Health authorities in New England have been alarmed that nearly 40 percent of the people -- mainly men over 75 years old -- have died in the last month, or are in the final stages. A Boston sports writer had predicted this, and researchers are close to accepting his reasoning: family and friends of the deceased say the departed decried every year that: "By golly! I'm gonna live 'til the Red Sox win the World Series!"
