Alberta Hendricks (left), Rose Cornwell (right) and Betty Hendrickson (back) are among those at the Payson Senior Center participating in a Christmas card writing project to send holiday cheer and greetings to servicemen overseas.

Operation Christmas Card is a way for the Rim country to show support for our troops serving in Iraq by sending a one-time Christmas card.

Cards can be addressed "To An American Hero" and can include an encouraging word, inspirational prayer, humorous joke or story, and please express your gratitude for their service.

School children are also encouraged to participate.

Drop boxes will be set up in the following locations: KMOG Radio, Rim Country Regional Chamber of Commerce, American Legion, Abigail's, My Chiropractor, Granny's Attic, Gila Community College and the Payson Roundup.

All cards must be in no later than Dec. 1.

Businesses, churches and other organizations are asked to participate in one of the following ways: set up a box for collecting the cards, purchase Christmas cards for your customers to fill out, or adopt a box of cards to ship.

If you would like to participate or have any questions, please contact Mary Goddard at (928) 472-7507.
