It's the week after Thanksgiving and "Jingle Bells" and "Jolly Old Saint Nick" have already worn out their welcome. A musical program sponsored by the Payson Christian Ministerial Fellowship Sunday night, puts the vim and vigor back into those tired, old Christmas carols during two performances.
Eric Santana, program director, said that in addition to traditional holiday music, new compositions and twists on old favorites are on the playbill.
"It'll be a very upbeat performance," Santana said. "It's going to be really exciting."
Lighting, special effects and a band enhance vocal and dramatic performances by local church members, he said. If you're looking for a new family tradition, this holiday production might be it.
"We're putting this on for the community to come out and enjoy and bring in the Christmas season," Santana said. "Next year we hope to have more involvement (from other churches)."
There are two performances -- 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. -- Sunday, Dec. 5 at the Payson High School Auditorium. Doors open an hour before showtime. The cost is free and donations are accepted.
