Payson Couple Injured In Oxbow Accident

A husband and wife were injured in a two-car accident Monday on Highway 87, near Oxbow Estates, police said.

Lee Kruse, 64 and his wife, Doris, 60, both of Payson, were flown to Scottsdale Healthcare Osborn after complaining of chest pains. According to Payson Police Officer Henry Thomason, the couple were admitted for observation.

The Kruse's Honda sedan was struck by the driver of a Dodge pickup truck, Mike Nunn, 35, of Payson at 8:08 a.m., Thomason said.

The accident occurred when Nunn attempted a northbound turn from a stop sign at Oxbow Estates onto Highway 87.

Nunn "admitted to having his windows iced up," Thomason said.

Nunn made the turn, hitting the Kruse's car on the passenger side. He was cited for failure to control to avoid collision and not wearing a seat belt.
