Q: I was told Roundup weed killer is used at Green Valley Park. Isn't this a hazard to the people who use the park?
A: "We only use what is necessary to keep our parks in good shape," Nelson Beck, parks superintendent, said. "We are licensed by the state as applicators and use every industry standard of safety." Beck said Roundup is used occasionally, however, when it, or any other potentially hazardous material, is used, the area being treated is barricaded until it is safe for people and pets to return.
