It is probably safe to say, my letter is not going to influence your vote, however, there is one candidate who truly deserves your vote and mine -- Lt. Kim Pound.
In talking about Kim Pound, I am not going to say anything bad about John Armer, after all, John is known as one of the "Good Ol' Boys," and from talk I hear around town, he believes that should be all the qualification necessary to receive your vote.
Kim Pound, on the other hand, wants to earn your vote with new ideas, "grass roots" programs, increased cooperation with other law enforcement agencies, and professionalism.
With more than 20 years in law enforcement, Kim Pound will bring experience and leadership to the sheriff's department.
Over the years Kim Pound has twice been named Detective of the Year, received four Meritorious Service Awards, and a Medal of Valor. He worked with the U.S. Attorney General's office, the U.S. Marshal's Office and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. He has been awarded the F.B.I Directors Award for investigation and conviction of known street gang members. He is a member of the International Association of Police Chiefs, and a former member of the International Association of Blood Splatter Analysts.
Kim Pound is currently the commander of the Salt River Police Department, and unfortunately for them, their loss will be Gila County's gain. And as most Gila County voters are beginning to realize, Kim Pound is the best choice for Gila County Sheriff.
