Police Beef Up Patrols For Labor Day Weekend

The Payson Police Department is bolstering patrols this holiday weekend to handle the extra traffic and get drunken drivers off the road.

Police Lt. Don Engler said his department has planned some extra DUI patrols for Friday night.

"We are doing a DUI enforcement patrol through a Governor's Office of Highway Safety grant tonight," Engler said. "We will have five officers working the DUI detail in addition to the regular officers working already."

Officers will be looking drunken drivers between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m.

The department will have an additional officer on duty Monday to handle the increased traffic coming through town on the holiday.
