The Tonto Rim Sports Club shooting range will have personnel available to sight-in hunters' personal targets and sporting scopes from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 11 and Sept. 18. The cost is $5 each and the public is welcome.
A cross-stick muzzle loader and black-powder CRT-shoot will be held Sunday, Sept. 19. Cost is $7 to shoot.
Prizes will be awarded in each class: 100 yards, 125 yards, 150 yards, 175 yards and 200 yards -- all at close to life-size animal targets.
Vintage 1870 period dress is suggested, and there will be a vote for best dressed. The event also will include an old-time menu.

Enter your men's or women's team of three in the home run derby for $25 by Friday, Sept. 10. All players 16 years of age and older are invited to participate in this event sponsored by Mazatzal Casino.
The tournament will take place at Rumsey II ball field starting at noon, Sunday, Sept. 12. Each team will be playing for a local non-profit organization of their choice.
All players will receive a T-shirt and trophies will be awarded to the top three teams in each division.
Breaking in the courts
There are two chances this weekend to break in the newly completed courts at Rumsey Park.
Beginning at 9 a.m., players can check out the newly completed basketball courts in the 3-on-3 tournament.
The cost is $30. The deadline for registration is Friday Sept. 10 at 5 p.m. The divisions for the tournament are as follows: third through fifth grade, middle school, high school and open.
Over on the volleyball courts, co-ed teams can dig their feet into the new beach volleyball courts.
The cost is $40. The deadline for registration is Sept. 10 at 5 p.m. All players must be 16 years of age or older and one female must be on the court at all times.
Roster size is limited to five players.
