Citizens are invited to provide input on the town's 2005 Corporate Strategic Plan at a special meeting at 9 a.m. Saturday at Payson Town Hall.
The plan, which is developed each year by the town council and department heads under the auspices of a professional facilitator, contains detailed goals and objectives for the coming year, including timelines for completion and responsible staff. This is the first year that the public has been invited to provide input into the plan.
"At the actual Corporate Strategic Plan meetings, anybody is welcome to go, but the council generally doesn't take any input," Town Manager Fred Carpenter said. "It would completely bog down the process."
At the Saturday meeting, Carpenter will use the 2004 plan as a starting point for providing input on the 2005 plan.
"I'm going to give an overview of the current plan and talk about some of the things in it that have been done," he said. "Then we're going to say, ‘Look, what do you think, public? Should we keep this goal in here? Should we modify or change it?"
Refreshments will be served.
Event Center meeting canceled
The special meeting to discuss the Payson Event Center proposal scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 14, has been canceled.
The issue, whether to sign a memo of understanding with Hospitality Support Group, will probably be addressed at the regular council meeting Sept. 23. HSG has proposed a $21 million development that includes covering and improving the rodeo arena, and adding a restaurant, hotel, amphitheater and conference center.
