Donald C. McComb, 81, of Portage, Wis., formerly of Payson, died Sunday, Sept. 19, 2004 at Divine Savior Hospital. He was born Oct. 16, 1922 in Sparta, Wis., the son of Jesse and Ruby (Capper) McComb.
Mr. McComb married Marguerite Hagen on April 26, 1986.
He served his country in the Army during World War II, serving in Italy and Africa.
Mr. McComb worked for 17 years at Isley RV in Mesa, and was a truck driver for many years, making 49 trips to Alaska.
He devoted his life to his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Marguerite; sister, Bernice Daniels of South Beloit, Ill.; brother, Jesse McComb of Clovis, Calif.; two loving stepdaughters, Diane (John) Richter of Delavan and Carole (Larry) Hoffer of Portage; six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, other relatives and many close friends. He is further survived by a daughter, Mary Jean Betzweiser and family of Milwaukee; and son, Dennis McComb of Whitefish Bay.
He was preceded in death by his parents and twin sisters, Merle and Marie Landerman.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Sept. 25 at Portage United Methodist Church with Rev. Larry Moody officiating. There will be no visitation and inurnment will be private. Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home of Portage is assisting the family.
