LifeCare Centers of America honored James Gann, executive director for Payson Care Center, during the company's annual management meeting awards dinner.
Gann received Life Care's President's Award, presented for uniquely distinguishing himself in his field of practice.
"Through the leadership of James, the facility has been a primary innovator for the Mesquite Region in achieving consistent and predictable outcomes," said Susan Goad, Southwest Division vice president.
Gann has brought his facility to new heights by increasing census, achieving substantial survey outcomes and by maintaining low labor expenses through elimination of costly and questionable specialty programming.
In addition, he improved the environment for the residents through a program to pay consistent attention to detail. He also reopened a closed nursing unit and added private suites, completed a comprehensive floor care program and patched, painted and resurfaced the parking area of the facility.
A spreadsheet was also developed by Gann that allows Payson Care Center to control expenses, maximize reimbursement and take credit for the care it delivers, greatly improving the facility's operations.
The President's Award is presented to the leader of an overall successful facility or organization. Criteria included at least two years of service with Life Care, measurement by the company's mission and values statement, and financial performance.
A total of 13 awards are given annually. Payson Care Center, located at 107 E. Lone Pine Dr., is managed by LifeCare Centers of America.
