The owner of a Rim country construction company was killed early Wednesday morning when his truck rolled off Highway 87 into a canyon 5 miles north of Payson.
Ricky P. McDonald, 38, of Pine and owner of RPM Construction, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
Department of Public Safety Sgt. John Whetten said McDonald was driving northbound around 1 a.m. when the accident happened.
"At approximately milepost 259.6, his right front tire left the roadway and he overcorrected and crossed the center line and went off the left side of the roadway," Whetten said. "His vehicle went down a 100-foot canyon and rolled and he was ejected. He wasn't wearing a seat belt."
Whetten said alcohol could be a factor in the accident.
