The annual floating of the rubber ducks down Christopher Creek was a total success. They ran out of ducks before I even got there, and to top it off it was a gorgeous day for the race.
I walked up to the upper end of the creek with Julie and Kenneth Mystrom to watch them drop the ducks into the creek. At exactly 1 p.m., Julie dumped the bucket of cute little ducks into the creek and Kenneth stood by with some ski poles in case he needed to help them get started. The current was so fast they didn't need any help and we ended up running back to the Landmark trying to catch up.
Chris Delatorre was in the water at the end of the race with a net to catch the winners. Onlookers lined up the back fence behind the Landmark cheering on their favorite duck.
The winners were first place, Lily Chandler; second place, Julie Mystrom; and third place Stanley Szezepanski
All proceeds from this event went to the Christopher/Kohl's Fire Department. It was a lot of fun, and next year they will be doubling the amount of ducks.
Don't forget the Annual Garage Sale, Saturday, April 9 at the Landmark from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. There is no charge to set up.
A couple of April birthdays I missed. April 9, Liana Pearsall, and April 15, Brent Zekoff. Happy birthday.
The Firebelles will meet at 1 p.m., Thursday, April 21, at the fire hall. They need lots of people to attend with lots of ideas. They will be planning activities for the year. Everyone is welcome to attend.
The Firebelles also are looking for someone to run bingo this year. If they cannot find anyone, they will not have bingo this summer. If you can help, give Penny Wells a call at (928) 478- 4404.
