Attention all gals in the Tonto Village Dominoes group: Besides playing dominoes this week, we'll be discussing participating in the Habitat for Humanity 5K walk in Payson.

I have already decided that I will participate, how about you? It would be a great idea if we could walk as a group.

The forms can be picked up at the Curves office, the Payson Athletic Club nears the Sears store, or the PAHH office on Goodfellow Road. Also, the Tonto Village Dominoes Group will hold an Italian Day on the third Wednesday of April at the Tonto Village Chapel starting at 1 p.m. Please bring a dish with an Italian theme.

Tonto Village Chapel

The Chapel will hold a potluck luncheon after worship services Sunday, April 10. The approximate time be around 12:45 p.m. Come and chat with your neighbors and eat some really good food.

Remember mothers of children who have some idle time on their hands, there is now a very active youth group at the chapel every Saturday from noon until 4 p.m. Games, refreshments, movies, Bible lessons and in the future, some very interesting field trips. Rita Spalink is the coordinator and can be reached at (928) 478-4282.

Connie Weldon is now recuperating and she is in rehabilitation at St. Joseph's Hospital. Connie would love to hear from her friends. Her address is: Connie Weldon, S-1 Room 23 Bed 1. St Joseph Hospital, 350 W. Thomas, Phoenix, AZ 85013

Birthdays, etc.

Belated birthday wishes to Charlie Clausen of Tonto Village III. He added his 83rd candle to his cake this past Sunday evening at his surprise party given by his wife, Shirley. Many of his friends, in the surrounding neighborhood and Christopher Creek and his family helped him celebrate.

Art Morrison also had his birthday April 4, so we sang a birthday song to him.

Margot Fish of Christopher Creek also had a birthday April 8. I can't forget Melvin Palmer, of Colcord Estates, his big day was April 4. Happy birthday to one and all.

Iraq bound

Phon and Dara Sutton of Bear Flat will be saying a tearful farewell to his daughter, Karen, who will leave for Iraq from North Carolina shortly.

Chuck and Linda Stailey also will say a fond farewell to their son, Eric, who will be going on his fourth tour of duty to Iraq. We wish them Godspeed and we will keep them in our prayers.

Tonto Village Fire District

A regular monthly fire board meeting will be Saturday, April 9, starting at 10 a.m. Board President Irv Bossert will preside over the meeting, which is always open to the public.

The new house numbers for 911 are still be distributed. Cindy Fitch's daughter, Brittany, has volunteered to help pass the numbers on to the proper homes. Thank you, Brittany, for your help.

Deepest sympathy to Willie Nourse and his family for the loss of his beloved mother, Mary Beatrice Nourse who passed away April 1. Mary enjoyed a long life, being born April 10, 1924, and she will be missed by all who knew her.
