George Buchanan McGregor Jr., 74, of Strawberry, died April 7, 2005 in Payson. He was born March 28, 1931 in Bisbee.

He was a Navy veteran in Korea, member of Kiwanis and Elks, retired as a lieutenant for the Arizona Department of Public Safety, assistant superintendent of the Arizona State Liquor Board, and he started his public service career as a deputy sheriff of Cochise County.

He is survived by his wife, Betty McGregor of Strawberry; daughters, Patricia Walson and Cheryl Reeves, both of Phoenix; son, George McGregor III of San Diego, Calif.; sisters, Marge Chambers of Warrenton, Va. and Isabel Durrenberger of Bisbee; and four grandchildren.

There will be a graveside service at 1 p.m., Wednesday, April 13 at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Road in Phoenix.
