Rim residents wanting the perfect setting for a spectacular family portrait can get the help they need from Jon and Trina Gunzel at Arizona Photo Solutions.
Both of them grew up in the area -- Jon in Payson and Trina in Pine -- so they know the locations of all the best spots for outdoor portraits.
"We're fully portable. We can take the equipment anywhere, any time," Jon said.
If an outdoor setting is not what a customer has in mind, the Gunzels also have a 1,100 square-foot, in-home studio with a variety of backgrounds, advanced lighting, props for children and a full range of state-of-the-art equipment.
"We do portraits of families and babies, wedding photos, sports team pictures," Jon said. "We do big jobs (for special events). Most recently, we did the Easter brunch at Chaparral Pines."
He said they do a full line of wedding photos from a base price of $300 to the most elegant weddings.
"We also have a great senior portrait deal," he said. "It's only $100, which can beat anyone here or in the Valley."
Jon has had a life-long love of photography and is mostly self-taught, though he also has trained with noted artists Will Crockett and Suzette Allen.
The business, which opened in January, is a dream Jon has had for a long time.
Before getting to live his dream, he was a police officer in Corvallis, Ore. and also taught and coached for the Payson Unified School District. He is still coaching, working with the track team this spring. Trina is a teacher, working with English language learners at Julia Randall Elementary School this year. Both attended Payson High School, and the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque.
"The big thing we provide is our level of service," he said. "When a client comes to us, they are treated as a guest in our home and we are here to serve them. Everything is digital, so they can see what they have right away, and if it is not what they want -- somebody moved, closed their eyes, had a funny look on their face -- we can take the picture again, right away, while everyone is still dressed up."
It takes two to three weeks to get proofs, and once the photos have been selected, it takes another two to three weeks for them to be delivered.
"We're competitively priced," he said. "We try to give perfect pictures at excellent prices -- a good value for your money," Jon said.
The calendar at Arizona Photo Solutions is filling up fast, so those interested in having those perfect pictures should get on the schedule now.
"The sooner they call the better," Jon said.
