Cousins Paul and Jake Randall of Pine hooked a six-fish limit in an April 9 Bartlett Lake tournament that swelled the pair's bank accounts by $3,200.
Competing in the BestBet Aluminum Boat Team Bass Fishing Tournament, the pair's catch weighed 18.04 pounds. The catch included a 4-pound largemouth.
According to bass fishing tournament director Mark Kile, the pair's catch "was the second biggest I can remember ever coming out of Bartlett."
A week earlier in an AllStar team tournament, the winners weighed in less than 16 pounds.
Kile is the co-owner of the Tackle Box in Tonto Basin that is one of the sponsors the Randall fishing team along with Tracker Marine Boating Center.
According to BestBet officials, the Randalls fished a combination of jig ‘n' craws and crankbaits around the "No Wake" zone at the mouth of the Verde River.
Jake entered the tournament fresh off a third-place finish at the April 2 AllStar fray at Bartlett, where he teamed with Heidi D'Arcangelo of Payson.
The BestBet tournament's "Big Fish" winner, a 6.61-pound largemouth was caught by Ron Sund of Roosevelt and Anthony Avalos of Globe on their first cast of the day. They were using a spinnerbait.
The next BestBet Aluminum Boat Team Bass Tournament is schedule for May 14 at Lake Pleasant.
