Christina Lyn Cowan died April 9, 2005. She was born Nov. 30, 1949 in Mesa to Alex Parkinson Cowan and Mary Margaret Watson.

Miss Cowan attended schools in Tucson and Casa Grande, graduating from Casa Grande Union High School. She also attended Northern Arizona University, graduating with a bachelor's degree in education.

She was a substitute teacher in Casa Grande and taught in the Payson Unified School District. She resided in Rim Country Health, formerly Manzanita Manor, for the past six years following a stroke where she received wonderful, loving care. She died after a four-month struggle with lung cancer.

Miss Cowan is survived by her mother, Margaret W. Coffey and her stepfather, A. Doyle Coffey; stepsister, Nancy (Ronald) Hughes of Tucson; two half-sisters, Alexis (Michael) Meinhold of Tempe and Jennifer (Bill) Laman of Cave Creek; half-brother, Michael Cowan of California; nephews, Christopher M. (Marie) Hamilton of Tucson, Cortney E. Hamilton of San Francisco and Christopher Meinhold of Tempe; and nieces Ally Meinhold of Tempe and Jessica Laman of Cave Creek.

She leaves a large extended family of aunts, uncles, many cousins and friends. She will always be remembered for her love of music, her great sense of humor and her laughter.

She was preceded in death by her father, Alex P. Cowan and her stepmother, Eileen Cowan.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 23 at Messinger Payson Funeral Home, 302 W. Aero Dr. in Payson.
