Gene Dempsey Phillips died April 11, 2005, surrounded by his family. He was born Feb. 21, 1930 in Canton, Texas.

Mr. Phillips worked for Kennecott Copper Ray Mines Division in Kearney, Ariz. as a diesel mechanic and supervisor of the truck shop for more than 30 years.

He was an avid hunter and a member of the National Rifle Association and Senior Circle.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Clydene; and three children, Larry, Robert and Christine. He was most proud of being a family man and grandfather to his four grandchildren, Michael, Joshua, Noah and Seth who lovingly referred to him as their Papa. He also leaves behind four sisters, Retha, Clara, Paltha and Frances.
