Pianist Victoria B. Harris will play the music of Mozart, Schumann, Mendelssohn, Balakirev, Debussy and Chopin at a special concert at Gila Community College.
Harris, an accomplished musician and educator, presents her first piano concert in Payson in the GCC Community Room at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 30.
Harris' teaching specialties are piano and organ, piano pedagogy, and music theory and history. She was professor of music and director of the preparatory division at Mount Union College in Alliance, Ohio for 18 years. She chaired the music department and served as institutional representative to the National Association of Schools of Music.
Harris is a member of the American Guild of Organists, the Arizona Music Education Association, the Music Teachers National Association with certification in organ and piano, and a contributing writer for Keyboard Companion magazine. She is currently working on several books.
Harris' performance experience as a concert organist and pianist throughout the United States and Europe is extensive. She was invited to perform as organist in England in 2005, and has most recently appeared as concert organist in St. Petersburg, Russia.
Harris teaches music appreciation at Gila County Community College to students in Globe and San Carlos.
