Thomas Steven Dawson, 70, of Payson, died July 30, 2005, in Payson. He was born Oct. 4, 1934, in Norwalk, Ohio.
Mr. Dawson graduated from Norwalk High School and attended Ohio State University.
During the Korean Conflict, he served in the U.S. Navy as a sonar man, receiving the national defense medal. He was an avid sailor and had won the Trans-Superior sailboat race.
Mr. Dawson was one of the founders of Norwalk Sailing School. He was also the owner and operator, along with his parents, of the former Dawson's-Patrick and Hiss Clothing Store in Norwalk.
Mr. Dawson was a sailboat broker and charter manager in Florida. He also worked for many years as a contractor's superintendent.
He was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Norwalk, Ohio.
He is survived by his daughters, Amy Dawson-Smith of Milan, Ohio, and Laurie Ann Dawson of Payson; son, Thomas Christopher Dawson of Euclid, Ohio; brothers, John Dawson of San Luis Obispo, Calif., and Cyril W. Dawson of Howard, Ohio; five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Tinker Dawson; and his parents, Cyril and Martha (Harrison) Dawson.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
