Wednesday is National Thrift Shop Day and the Payson Senior Thrift Store is celebrating in style.
Special clothing sales on Wednesday include five selected women's garments for $2, and, in honor of August Doin's, men's and women's Western wear will be half price.
Other selected items throughout the store will be half price as well, according to Marian Barber, store manager. Refreshments will also be served, and two drawings will be held each hour -- with a grand prize drawing at 4:30 p.m.
"We have cash prizes for merchandise in the store, and then we're going to have some fruit and candy arrangements," Barber said.
This is the second year the Payson Senior Thrift Store, which is located at 512 W. Main St., has celebrated National Thrift Shop Day.
"We celebrated it last year, too -- the first year we heard about it," Barber said. "We're going to do it every year; it's going to be kind of a tradition."
And there's yet another reason store employees are going all out to make the day special.
"It's also kind of a salute to Payson, because we had no air conditioning for two weeks and we had to close early and shoo people off," Barber said.
The store is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Time Out Thrift Shop, located at 500 S. Beeline Highway, is also planning a celebration Wednesday with "super specials," balloons and cake. The shop is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
