New Dentist Sinks Teeth Into Rim Country Life

Jon Lindsay grew up in Utah, but went to college in the Midwest.

In June he graduated from dental school at Ohio State and on Aug. 16, joined the Anderson Dental Group, working both in Payson and Heber.

"I wanted to be back out in the mountains and close to my family and outdoor recreation," Lindsay said.

His path to becoming a dentist was made at an early age.

"My father was a pediatrician, so I knew I always wanted to do something in the medical field," he said. "A friend's dad was a dentist and I had an opportunity to observe him at work and it (the work) just stuck in my head and wouldn't go out."

While he has only been with the Anderson group a couple of weeks, he said it has been really good working with Scott and Eric Anderson.

"I'm learning a lot from them."

He said his goal -- besides providing dental care -- is to educate his patients about maintaining good oral hygiene and about what is taking place when procedures are necessary.

Lindsay works in Anderson's Mogollon Family Dentistry office in Heber Monday through Wednesday serving residents in Heber, Overgaard and Forest Lakes, then is in the Payson office Thursday and Friday. He is already staying busy, but new patients are welcome, he said.

Lindsay and his wife, Kirstin have 2-year-old twins, a boy and a girl, Camden and Shannon.

"We love Payson," he said. "We've been here about a month. The people have been really friendly and nice. We're excited to be here."

In his free time, Lindsay likes spending time with his family and hiking. Hiking opportunities in the Rim Country helped him settle on a job in Payson.

He also is a fan of football and likes to sail. His favorite vacation is a cruise and his idea of luxury is time on Amelia Island, Fla.
