Celebrations Abound Around The Creek

Pastor Ed Hepworth of the Christopher Creek Bible Fellowship Chapel baptized Travis Kilbourne, Jessica Standly, Rebecca Jones and Kelly McQuiston last weekend. A celebration luncheon followed the service.

Saturday, Dec. 3 is the Landmark's anniversary party. Arizona's Hottest Blues Band will provide the entertainment. The evening will feature a complimentary buffet, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., along with drink specials. Music starts at 8 p.m. Everyone is welcome to join the celebration.

I went out to see who had Christmas lights up and was surprised to see how many people had decorated their homes.

As we went down Columbine Road, we came to Vicki Grootegoed's place first. She did a really nice job with her lights.

The Rasmussens had a large, lighted reindeer in their front yard, across the street. Chief Ray Larsen and his wife, Margie, had to spend many months getting their place ready. The chief had decorations everywhere. Every piece of their property is lit up. Remember, Ray is also an electrician.

Down the road, Dave and Jackie Ezzell did a great job on their place.

We crossed the creek, and Clayton and Elli Ashby had their place decorated, as did Chuck and Karen Schmitt. We drove through Christopher Creek Mobile Home Park, and Shane Web's place was really cute, children will find it especially appealing. In Hunter Creek, Jo and Red Armistead do a really nice job on their property. The trees were lighted, along with many different displays. I will keep you informed on who is putting up special displays for the holidays.

Christmas parties are being held around the area too.

The Christopher Kohl's Fire Department and Firebelles Christmas party and potluck is at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 7 at the fire station in Christopher Creek. Please bring a dish to share and a $10 gift for each person you bring. They will play a gift game. Call Vicki Grootegoed at (928) 478-4654 to find out what food is needed.

The children's Christmas party is at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17. All community children and grandchildren, ages 12 and under, are encouraged to attend. Children should bring two canned goods or nonperishable food items. They will decorate and fill food boxes for local families.

Santa will visit the children at 2 p.m. There will be holiday stockings for each child.

Call Karen Thorton at (928) 478-4133 or Judy Toole, (928) 478-0508, to let them know the names and ages of the children coming from your home.

Later that evening, join the Christmas caroling around the community. The wagon leaves the fire hall at 6 p.m. Dress warmly and bring along a flashlight. Afterward, there will be hot chocolate and cookies.
