Dennis (Denny) Gene Benson, 61, of Payson, died Nov. 30, 2005. He was born June 18, 1944 to John William and Alvada Lucille Benson in Lakewood, Ohio.
Mr. Benson was an active member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, and a lifelong drummer and musician. He was a mounted ranger for the Cleveland Metroparks system of Ohio for 27 years before retiring to Payson.
He was active in the Rim Country 4-Wheelers; the International Police Association; the Tonto Rim Sports Club and the Payson Horsemen's Association. He was a volunteer for the Payson Police Department, Elderbuilders, and the Rim Country Museum.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon; brother, Jack (Dolores) Veazey of Jasper, Ga.; son, Jon Erik (Susan) of Charlotte, N.C.; stepson, Martin (Kayde) of Xenia, Ill.; stepdaughter, Christine of Cleveland, Ohio; and four grandsons, Cory, Logan, Garet and Cole.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Paul Veazey.
A celebration of life will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 10 at Mad Dawg's & Mel's Restaurant, located at 202 W. Main St., Payson.
