Businesses Join To Supply Angel Tree

It just wouldn't be Christmas in the Rim Country without an Angel Tree program.

Those sentiments are what prompted Majestic Mountain Inn, Wal-Mart, Flowers by June and Post Net to join forces to bring an Angel Tree to Wal-Mart.

Partnering with area businesses, Scott Nadel, general manager of Majestic Mountain Inn, and hotel owner Devinder Singh are collecting angel tree toys that will be distributed to 300 local children.

Scott Nadel, general manager of Majestic Mountain Inn, is spearheading the campaign.

"We will have about 300 names of children, 17 and younger, on the tree," he said. Located in front of the Desert Schools Credit Union at Wal-Mart, the tree currently has about 140 names on it.

"The gifts for the children are up to the participants," said June Dudley, owner of Flowers by June.

The tags on the tree indicate if the recipients are boys or girls and their ages.

Once the gifts are purchased, they should be delivered to Majestic Mountain Inn with the tags, Nadel said.

In addition to inviting Rim Country residents to participate in the campaign, the hotel is also advertising discount prices for any of its guests who bring a gift to give to area children.

Gifts need to be delivered to the Majestic Mountain Inn by Dec. 22 for distribution, he said.

In addition to the Angel Tree, Flowers by June is also donating five percent of sales from Christmas ornaments and items to the Payson Food Bank. Dudley decorated the trees at Majestic Mountain Inn and the ornaments are for sale, and she has more at her shop.
