Toby Jaymes Yates, 17, of Payson died Dec. 5, 2005 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Phoenix. He was born Sept. 28, 1988 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Phoenix.
Mr. Yates lived in Payson most of his life and was a student at Payson High School. He attended Central Christian Church. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post 69 and a member of A Hand of Hope, a group for medically challenged children.
He is survived by his mother, Janet Yates of Payson; great-grandmother, Mary A. Haithcock of Payson; birth mother, Rachael Gourley and her husband Dennis Gourley; sister, Stasha Yates; three stepsisters, Shannon, Stephany and Sabrina Gourley; brother, Brian Yates and his wife Star Christiansen of Payson; nieces, Tailor Yates and Twilight Yates; two uncles, James Batey and Russell Batey of Payson; and seven cousins.
There will be a memorial service at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 10 at the American Legion, Post 69, 709 E. Highway 260. Please enter through the back door. Pastor Robert Baird will officiate. A light lunch will follow the service.
