A driver was thrown from his vehicle during a rollover accident in north Payson Saturday evening, police said.
The driver, Larry Hilgendorf, 48 of Payson, flipped his 1977 Dodge pickup truck at 9:16 p.m. in the 1800 block of West Airport Road.
Although the details of the accident are still under investigation, Police Commander Don Engler noted that officers found Hilgendorf unconscious, but breathing, near a tree after the accident.
"I think if he were wearing a seat belt, he wouldn't have been ejected," Engler said.
An emergency helicopter transported Hilgendorf to Scottsdale for medical treatment.
