A woman from the Valley is lucky to be alive, according to Tom Fife, chief of Battalion 1 of the Payson Fire Department.
Fife and his crew, along with the Payson Police Department and Department of Public Safety, responded to this rollover on southbound Highway 87 near the Round Valley turnoff between 4 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
The woman was wearing a seat belt and was able to extricate herself from the vehicle after it came to a rest, he said.
"She had head trauma and multiple system trauma and was airlifted to Scottsdale Osborn," Fife said.
He said the accident appears to have been caused by contact with a semi, but he did not know the details.
The accident forced officials to close southbound Highway 87 for at least 30 minutes.
