Officers from the Payson Police Department, with assistance from Gila County Sheriff's deputies, arrested the manager of a Star Valley motel suspected of dealing methamphetamine.

Officers served a search warrant on the residence of Vicky Lynn Jones, 48, Star Valley, on Saturday afternoon, seizing large quantities of methamphetamine, marijuana and prescription narcotics.

"We received information that (Jones) was in possession of a significant amount of methamphetamine," Payson Police Chief Gordon Gartner said. "Acting on that information, we served a search warrant and found over an ounce of methamphetamine that was individually packaged for sale, as well as several (plastic bags) of marijuana packaged for sale."

Detective Jason Hazelo, of the Payson Police Department's Methamphetamine Enforcement Program, said Jones cooperated with officers, showing them where the drugs were.

"We found about six different bindles of meth, packaged in different quantities," Hazelo said. "Some were six grams and some contained one gram of meth. We also found 80 morphine pills and liquid methamphetamine."

Hazelo said he did not believe Jones was manufacturing meth, but was smoking liquid methamphetamine.

Jones also told officers that she was recently released from prison for previous drug charges in Arizona.

Jones was arrested and charged with possession of dangerous drugs for sale, possession of marijuana for sale, possession of narcotic drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Hazelo said other charges may be pending.
