Rim Country Residents Offered Train Discount

Grand Canyon Railway's popular Good Neighbor Promotion -- offering all residents living in the 928 area code 50 percent off train tickets -- is back. January through February, all residents living in the 928 area code will receive a 50 percent discount off any class train tickets.

"We're thrilled to again offer the Good Neighbor discount. It's our way of saying ‘thanks' to all of our northern Arizona neighbors," said David Chambers, president of Grand Canyon Railway.

Recreating the historic trip by rail to the South Rim, Grand Canyon Railway covers 65 miles of classic Old West territory, including high desert plains with endless vistas, small arroyos and portions of the world's largest ponderosa pine forest.

The winter trip provides breathtaking views of ponderosa pines heavy with snow, and the canyon is at its most spectacular. Less crowded than the summer months, the colors of the canyon are sharper against its blanket of white snow. If you've only been to the canyon in summer, you've never seen how grand the canyon truly is.

With the Good Neighbor discount, train rates are as follows:

Coach Class: $30 for adults, $17.50 for youth (ages 11 - 16) and $12.50 for children (ages 2 - 10).

Club Class: $40 for adults, $27.50 for youth and $22.50 for children.

First Class: $60 for adults, $47.50 for youth and $42.50 for children.

Dome Class: $72.50 for adults and $60 for youth.

Luxury Parlor: $77.50 for adults and $65 for youth.

These rates do not include tax or the National Park Entrance Fee paid by all Grand Canyon Railway passengers.

Good Neighbor is only available by calling (800) THE-TRAIN. Mention the Good Neighbor discount when making your reservations and you'll receive 50 percent off the regular train fare. Train travel must take place between January and February. The Good Neighbor discount may not be combined with any other Grand Canyon Railway promotions.
