Following a two-car accident Saturday evening near Denny's restaurant, Payson Police Sgt. Dean Faust pursued and caught a 40-year-old Colorado resident involved in the collision.

The suspect, Romero Enriquz, was charged with aggravated DUI and leaving the scene of an accident with injuries.

According to Cmdr. Don Engler, Faust was near the scene and heard the accident in which a car driven by a 25-year-old Payson resident was struck by Enriquz's car.

Payson Fire Department personnel treated the woman at the scene, police said.

After Enriquz drove away, Faust followed the suspect, detaining him near mile post 243 on S. Beeline Highway.

The suspect was arrested and booked into Gila County jail. He has since been released.

Enriquz's arrest was one of five DUI suspects PPD officers detained over the weekend.

Test results of blood-alcohol samples taken from the suspect will not be known for about a month.

On Super Bowl Sunday, officers were kept busy responding to four domestic calls. During one call, a 19-year-old was charged with resisting arrest.
