Pine Restaurants Cater To Lovers On Valentine's

Several restaurants in Pine and Strawberry are having special Valentine festivities. Some are celebrating on Sunday night and others on Monday, Feb. 14. Call your favorite restaurant and find out what they are doing to celebrate this romantic occasion. Certainly one of them will be just perfect.

The Pine Strawberry Emergency Task Force will meet on Tuesday this week rather than Monday, due to Valentine's Day. The meeting is at 7 p.m. at the Pine Fire Station. The PC User's group will meet at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 15, at the Pine Community Center's Senior Dining Room. This month's program will be an introductory look at digital photography. The various topics will include photographic techniques, digital camera settings and digital photo manipulation.

Photo composition will be reviewed, and different methods will be shown to make photos more pleasing. The many settings on the digital camera will be examined, and examples will show what can be done by changing these settings.

Many techniques are available in various image processing programs to make changes in the photos. These techniques will be explored. You are invited to bring your digital camera, with manual, and find answers to your most frustrating questions.

The Children's Story Hour at the Pine Library is at 10 a.m. each Wednesday. All preschool- and school-age children are invited. The story for Feb. 16 is "The Mystery of Eatum Hall" by John Kelly and Cathy Tincknell. Storyteller, Patty Rockwell, invites the children to come and help solve the mystery.

The Old Time Fiddlers Jam Session is 1 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 16 in the Cultural Hall at the Pine Community Center. This is lots of fun. Bring your banjo, guitar, fiddle, accordion, whatever, and join in or just come and clap your hands and stomp your feet while singing along. The musicians have a great time and welcome new participants. Just show up shortly before 1 p.m. to introduce yourself and get set up. The jam session is free, and everyone is invited to come and enjoy the music.

The Mardi Gras celebration, sponsored by Strawberry's Elite, is from 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 27 at the Black Bear Restaurant in Strawberry. "Trouble in Paradise" will entertain with a great selection of your favorite music including some great Cajun tunes. Tickets are available at the door. This is one of the fund-raisers for Strawberry's Elite. The group provides funds for children and families in need in the Pine/Strawberry communities.
