The Lil' Longhorn program at Payson High School is now a fully licensed and accredited preschool.
The program was license by the Arizona Department of Health Services last spring.
"We will be able to offer a fully functioning preschool environment," PHS teacher Devon Wells said. Wells teaches the preschool program's child development class for student-teachers.
Last semester, PHS students studied child-related issues and the learning processes of preschool-aged children.
"They are excited to use their knowledge in teaching children in their own Lil' Longhorn pre-school," Wells said.
The preschool, which begins Jan. 18, will be open 10:40 a.m. to 12:40 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. The registration fee is $25 per quarter or $50 per semester. The school is open to all children 3 to 5 years of age.
"This is a great opportunity for children to obtain socialization outside their home and learn the skills needed for kindergarten," said Wells.
