William Allen Brunson, 82, of Payson, died Dec. 28, 2004 in Payson. He was born Feb. 26, 1922 in Tonto Basin.
Mr. Brunson grew up in Tonto Basin. He was a trapper in his young life, and then joined the Army Airforce and became a sergeant, serving in England during World War II. When he returned to Arizona, he joined Operating Engineer's #428 and worked in construction as a heavy equipment operator. He also did mining for quicksilver and uranium. He loved the outdoors and was an excellent hunter, marksman and gardener.
Survivors include sister, Carolina Stockman of Silver City, N.M.; brothers, Riley of Mesa, Ariz., and Charles of Payson; eight nieces, 10 nephews, 16 grandnieces, 30 grandnephews and numerous great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Riley James and Elsie Don Dollen Brunson; sister, Gladys Stockman; brothers, Johnny O. Brunson and Leonard A. Brunson.
There was a visitation Tuesday, Jan. 4 at First Southern Baptist Church followed by services at 10 a.m. Interment will be in the Tonto Basin Cemetery.
