Young Author Publishes First Book

Young author Morgan DiFelice has penned and published her first book.

And she's only 9 years old.

Julia Randall Elementary School student Morgan DiFelice reads "The Witch Who Stole The Golden Shoes" that she authored last year as a part of a Young Authors contest. The book has been published and is on sale.

Morgan's book, "The Witch who Stole the Golden Shoes," was written last school year as part of a Young Author's contest at Julia Randall Elementary School. When writing the book, which won first place in the contest, Morgan was a student in Susan Ryden's second-grade class.

Morgan doesn't want to give too much of the plot away, but said the book is about a little boy with golden shoes who has them stolen by a witch under a full moon. Morgan writes about his efforts to retrieve the shoes.

In addition to writing the book, Morgan provided the illustrations.

Upon completion of the book, Morgan dedicated it to two friends -- Katelynn Cordell and Danya Svir.

Morgan has entered the Young Authors contest since she was in first grade and said she "loves to write stories."

In addition to writing, Morgan enjoys reading, most all sports and is a Brownie Girl Scout. Her ambition is to be an actress, take voice lessons and play the violin.

"The Witch Who Stole the Golden Shoes" has been published by Piggin' String Publishing in Payson.

Copies, at $12 each, are available at Class Cleaners & Gifts, Payson Day Spa, Granny's Attic, Wild Brush Art Gallery, Art and Antique Corral and Paper and Metal Scrappers.
