Charles Sheridan Lockwood, III, 80, of Payson died July 2, 2005. He was born Aug. 24, 1924 in Boston, Mass.

Mr. Lockwood was a World War II Navy veteran (Battleship New Jersey).

He was a member of Payson United Methodist Church, Montezuma Masonic Lodge No. 35 in Phoenix, cofounder of Pine Country Toastmasters, and member of the Telephone Pioneers (Zane Grey Chapter, now disbanded). He was employed by N.Y. Bell Telephone Company, Mountain Bell, and Qwest for a total of 35 years. He retired to Payson with his wife in 1985.

He is survived by his wife, Irina Lockwood of Payson; daughter, Linda (Robert) Cohen; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Sheridan Lockwood and Gertrude Haupt; sister, Gloria; and brother Robert.

A private memorial service will be held.
