After more than a year of "reading, studying and praying," Tina Terry, an insurance and financial services representative with the Modern Woodmen of America, has achieved the Fraternal Insurance Counselors (FIC) designation.
All representatives must achieve the designation to demonstrate their knowledge of the company's insurance products and continue working with the company.
It was a good feeling to earn the designation, Terry said. But more importantly, she added, it symbolizes the affirmation of her acceptance into the organization and her competence to better serve new members.
"It's like an old-fashioned family," Terry said, and she likes the camaraderie among Modern Woodmen of America members.
Terry has worked for the company for about two years and has been striving to achieve the FIC designation for about a year and a half.
It felt "almost as good as passing my securities license," Terry said. Company representatives are also required to obtain a securities license. Terry earned hers several months ago.
The company, which provides insurance and financial services to its members, is structured as a fraternal organization and is required to do benevolent community work.
