John J. Baker Jr., 57, of Payson, formerly of Vincennes, Ind., died July 19, 2005 at the Veterans Administration hospital in North Chicago, Ill. He was born in Indianapolis, Ind. July 23, 1947, and grew up in Vincennes, Ind.
Mr. Baker graduated in 1965 from Lincoln High School in Vincennes and thereafter entered into the United States Air Force where he served two tours of duty in Vietnam. Upon his return to Vincennes, he was employed with the family business, Joe Baker & Sons Welding, Inc.
He is survived by his mother, Margaret Lucille (Stephenson) Baker of Waukegan, Ill. (formerly of Vincennes, Ind.); sisters, Peggy (Bill) Shorts of Waukegan, Judy Baker of Chandler, Ariz., Mary Lou Von Meter and Nancy Jo Jones of Noblesville, Ind.; brothers, Stephen G. (Joan) Baker of Spencer (Cataract), Ind. and John J. (Mary) Belzer of Port Washington, Wisc.; aunt, Gladys Brocksmith of Freelandville, Ind.; and many other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, John J. (Joe) Baker in 1997.
No visitation is planned and a private memorial service will be held at a later date.
