Paul M. Batty, 89, died Thursday, July 21, 2005 in Payson. Mr. Batty was born July 23, 1915 in Vernal, Utah, the son of Miles Marquis Batty and Permelia Emily Bigelow.
Mr. Batty and his wife Isobel moved to Payson in 1994, after retiring and traveling extensively.
He was active in civic affairs in Vernal, serving on the Tri-County Planning Commission, as chairman of the Red Cross, was on the city council, president of the Knife and Fork Club, and owned and operated several business enterprises. He held many positions in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, being especially fond of working with the youth.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Isobel Dillman Batty, their two children: Annette (Lynn) Godfrey of Payson and Paul Michael Batty of Pleasant Grove, Utah; 11 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter Ellen, who died at age 8 months.
Services will be held Saturday, July 30 in Vernal, Utah. A memorial service is planned for 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 6 in Payson at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 913 S. Ponderosa St. in Payson.
