Tonto Village got a good soaking of rainfall this past Saturday evening. The amount of this precious moisture was widespread throughout the surrounding area. A few of our neighbors have rain gauges and the rainfall varies from .75 inch to 3 inches in the Bear Flat area. Needless to say, the rain was welcome no matter how much fell. My shrubbery and trees were starving for water.
Tonto Village Fire District
A web page has now been set up for the Tonto Village Fire Department. The site address is: www.tontovillagefire.org. You can get the latest updates on weather, graphics and pictures relating to the fire department. Chief J.R. Alliger will be accepting articles and pictures from everyone. If you see a graphic that would be interesting, right click on it, click on save as, then send as an attachment.
The Fire Sirens Auxiliary will be meeting at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 30, at the Tonto Village Chapel. The purpose of the meeting will be to discuss the plans for the auxiliary's annual fund-raiser, the Labor Day Bash. Volunteers are desperately needed to make this event a success. Please take the time to attend this very important meeting.
A sad farewell
Jim and Phyllis Ballard will be moving to Oklahoma next month. Both Jim and Phyllis have lived in the Village for many years and they will be missed. The ladies pool players and the Fire Sirens are planning a farewell party for Phyllis Tuesday, Aug. 2 at the Double D. There will be a potluck dinner starting at 5:30 p.m. They plan to start the games at 6:30 p.m.
Come by and wish Phyllis and Jim good luck and bring along a covered dish for everyone to enjoy.
Phyllis has been a real estate agent in this area for many years, in fact, she was the agent for us when we moved to Tonto Village and bought the old Irby cabin. Phyllis has also been an avid pool player and a vital part of the Fire Sirens Auxiliary. Jim also served a short term on the fire board. Come to the Double D on Tuesday evening and wish them good luck on their new start in a new place.
Phyllis Ballard shot for first place this past Tuesday evening at the Double D, Patty Boeschling took second place and Susie Shill shot for third place. Bo Douglas, Harvey Poyner and Cliff Landrum were the top winners at the Sunday pool games at the Double D. Has Cliff met his match or was it sheer luck that Bo won? Come and find out next week.
