Winnie Mae Plunkett, 82, died June 2, 2005, at RTA Hospice in Casa Grande. She was born Oct. 7, 1922 in Oak Hill, Okla.
Around the age of 20, Winnie met Robert Plunkett and soon after they were married -- a marriage that lasted 56 years. They initially moved to Los Angeles, where they had their first son, Gary. They eventually wound up in Casa Grande, Ariz. and their second son, Steve, was born.
After the two sons were grown, Mrs. Plunkett became co-owner of a Merle Norman cosmetics studio where she prospered for many years. When they retired, they moved up to Payson. Robert passed away in the year 2000 and Winnie continued living at home until 2004, when she moved back to Casa Grande to be close to family.
She is is survived by her eldest son, Gary, his wife Linda, their two sons, Sean and Jason, and Jason's wife, Celeste, who all live in Casa Grande; her youngest son, Steve and his wife, Patti, of Los Angeles; and sisters Lois and Edith of Broken Bow, Okla.
Services were held Monday, June 6, 2005 at Messinger Payson Funeral Home with burial in Mountain Meadows Memorial Park, in Payson.
