Dorothy E. Qualtire, 85, died June 5, 2005 in Phoenix, after a long illness.he was born July 28, 1920, the third of five children born to John and Elizabeth Takach in Mingo Junction, Ohio.
She was an excellent student, winning awards for typing and shorthand.n accomplished pianist, she passed on her love of music to her children. She was also a "walking dictionary."he met her husband, Guy J. Qualtire, in Mingo Junction.
When she was in her early 20s, she moved to Akron, Ohio to work for Goodyear Tire.he and Guy married in 1942, relocating to Alzona Park in Phoenix. The Qualtires had a summer home in Payson.
Mrs. Qualtire worked at both DyDee Service and at Montebello Elementary School cafeteria.he attended St. Simon and Jude Cathedral for more than 40 years and was a longtime member of the choir.er hobbies included knitting, crocheting, crossword puzzles, old movies, sewing, and growing roses and morning glories.he was also a great animal lover and had several cherished dogs.owever, her greatest achievement was being a loving wife and devoted mother.
She is survived by her sister, Esther Grabaskas of Ohio; children, Diane Anderson; Donna Erickson of California; Dennis (Karen) Qualtire; Daniel (Judy) Qualtire of Colorado; Debra Qualtire; and Denise (Mark) Barker of Overgaard, Ariz.he has 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Guy J. Qualtire; daughter, Delores Anderson; parents; two brothers; and one sister.
A viewing and visitation was held Thursday, June 9 at St. Simon and Jude Cathedral, 6351 N. 27th Ave., Phoenix, followed by a Rosary.
