Ted Thal, 81, of Payson, died June 6, 2005 in Payson. He was born June 19, 1923 in Brooklyn, N.Y.
He served in the Navy during World War II. He was a quality control engineer and supervisor for Sperry for 43 years.
He was a member of Community Presbyterian Church where he was an elder, a deacon, adult Sunday School teacher, and liturgist. He also served as treasurer, member of the Child Learning Center Board, and chaired both the Missions Committee and Personnel Committee.
He was active in the community as a member of Mesa del Civic Association, treasurer of Mesa del Community Center Board, and a member of Payson Helping Payson Board.
He is survived by his wife, Vondaleen Thal of Payson; daughters, Barbara Thal of Wickenburg and Robena West of Mesa; sons, Robert "Bob" Thal of Phoenix, Christopher "Chris" Thal of Phoenix, Thomas "Tom" Thal and wife, Carol of Glendale, Timothy "Tim" Thal and wife, Sheri of Glendale; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret and Nathan; brother, Edward; son, Dick; and wife, Mary.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, June 11 at Community Presbyterian Church, 800 W. Main St. in Payson.
