Barrio Latino has been the guiding force of traditional and contemporary Mexican and Latin music in Arizona.
Their south-of-the-border tunes will fill the air of Green Valley Park this weekend when they perform at the Payson Parks and Recreation Department's annual Concert Under the Stars Series.
The program starts at 7 p.m., Saturday, June 18 in the park's amphitheater area.
Barrio Latino's high-powered show covers musical styles -- everything from samba, salsa, cha cha, cumbia, polka, bolero, waltz, jazz, blues, Latin cross-over and funk. The group's rhythmic hooks, smooth vocals, strong percussion and lyrics paint pictures from their barrio roots.
The band includes Andy Gonzales; Abby Ray; Dowell Davis; Anita Benevitez; Rick Benevitez; and guest artist Jennifer Rico.
Barrio Latino performs at 7 p.m., June 18. There is no admission fee for the Concert Under the Stars Series and no alcohol is allowed in the park.
