Firefighters battling the Zane Fire burning 12 miles northeast of Payson have announced full containment of the Zane Fire, which had threatened both nearby homes and the Tonto Creek Fish Hatchery.
Crews built upon the hard work done yesterday, and were successful in strengthening containment lines and extinguishing hot spots within the fire perimeter.
In all, more than 220 firefighters were involved in battling the blaze.
Crews will now focus on mopping up and patrolling within the burned area to ensure that no hot spots are left to flare up again.
Fire vehicles are continuously traveling back and forth between the fire and Payson on Highway 260, so fire officials ask that drivers please be careful and cautious traveling in the area.
