Pearl Fleischmann died March 6, 2005 in Payson. She was born June 1, 1910 in Branch, Wis.
After many years of working as a bank teller in Chicago and attending the Chicago Art Institute, Mrs. Fleischmann began caring for ill family members. She provided this service for many years. The family members died, as did her husband, Dudley, after they moved to Phoenix.
Mrs. Fleischmann discovered her "dream town" of Payson and moved here in 1983.
Art had been her hobby since childhood -- she began drawing dolls and doll clothes by the light of a fireplace at the age of 5. After settling into a small mobile home in Payson North, she met a member of the Payson Art League, and joined the local art community.
Mrs. Fleischmann served as chairman of the PAL shows for several years, winning many friends and awards for her paintings and scratchboard work.
She will be missed by her many friends in the art league as well as all of the congregation of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, where she worshiped for many years.
Donations can be made to RTA Hospice, 511 Mud Springs Road, Payson, AZ 85541. Services are planned for 10 a.m., Monday, March 14 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, corner of Easy Street and Sherwood in Payson.
