Annie Semple Mccown


Annie Semple McCown, 97, of Fort Collins, Colo., died March 20, 2005 at a local nursing home. She was born Jan. 8, 1908 in Enon Valley, Penn. to Robert and Martha Nesbit.

She married Lloyd Leasure McCown on April 22, 1931 in East Palestine, Ohio. They lived for many years in Phoenix, then Payson, before Lloyd died in 1988.

Mrs. McCown moved to Fort Collins in 1995 to be nearer to her foster son and daughter-in-law, David and Sandy Thomas.

She was active for many years in the Order of the Eastern Star and the hospital auxiliary in Payson and the Community Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include David and Sandy Thomas of Wellington, Colo.; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Her husband, three brothers and three sisters preceded her in death.

A graveside service was held March 24 at Mountain Meadows Memorial Park in Payson with the Rev. Charles Proudfoot officiating.

The family requests donations be made to the Community Presbyterian Church, 800 W. Main St., Payson, AZ 85541.
