Don E. Stephenson, of Payson, died March 30, 2005 at his home in Payson. He was born Dec. 22, 1923 in Sheridan, Ky.
Mr. Stephenson served in the Army in World War II. He retired as a building contractor in 1975. He was the first Arizona State Fiddle champion. The Stephensons were owners of the Mogollon Trading Post in Payson. He was a wood artist and a designer in wood. His work was sold in galleries in Scottsdale.
He is survived by his wife, Glennis Stephenson of Payson; daughters, Bobbie Ragan of Geraldine, Ala., LaDonna Miller of Mesa, and Diane Altstatt of Mexico; sisters, Evelyn Hamilton of Marion, Ky.; and 17 grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his sister Cloyce Hughes, and grandson Evan Shelly.
There will be a visitation at 11 a.m. Monday, April 4, followed by funeral services at 11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Payson. Burial will be in the cemetery in Round Valley.
