Jane C. Waszak, 71, of Payson died May 6, 2005 in Payson. She was born May 6, 1934 in Flint, Mich.
Mrs. Waszak came to Arizona in 1952 with her mother. Her father died when she was 10 years old. She graduated from Phoenix Union High School and went to work in the pharmacy at St. Joseph's Hospital in Phoenix. She worked as a sales clerk at J. C. Penney in Phoenix. Mrs. Waszak married Joseph on June 5, 1954. She worked for Sperry Rand in Phoenix, and was involved in Cursillo movement at Mt. Claret in Phoenix.
They moved to Payson in 1977, where she worked as an income tax preparer for Ele Inscho. She started her own bookkeeping business in 1980; was a member of Civil Air Patrol and volunteered her time at St. Philip's Catholic Church and many other organizations.
Mrs. Waszak visited the sick and helped many people at home and in nursing care centers for as long as she could -- even though she herself was very sick and in a wheelchair because of her breathing difficulties.
Mrs. Waszak was a champ until the end, giving as much as she could, to as many as she could, for as long as she could, and she will surely live forever in the hearts of all those she met.
Mrs. Waszak is survived by her husband, Joseph Waszak; sons, Joseph and David; daughter, Collene; 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 14, at St. Philip's Catholic Church, with rosary at 10:30 a.m. and the service following at 11.
